Recovery from severe shoulder and arm pain in a 59 year old woman
“My life is basically back to normal, plus I’m less afraid to try new things. I know what its like to be constrained by pain, and now I know what its like to feel free again.
Why not try new things? I feel my mind is liberated too and I’m ready to do things that I never would have imagined.”

Whether your chronic pain is back/neck/musculoskeletal pain, headaches, IBS, RSI, CRPS or many other forms of chronic pain, we know that by changing the brain we can change the pain. It doesn’t work for all forms of chronic pain, but it does work for most of them. And it’s going to take some effort on your part… but we’ve been there and our expert team is there to guide you every step of the way.
Recovery from chronic back pain and reduced medication use in a 79 year old woman
“Moving from bed to chair and back to bed was no life. I did get good relief lying in bed but I did not want to spend the day and night on my bed!
I have been working through the Freedom From Chronic Pain program for 3 months now and really appreciate it. I have not had rapid dramatic improvements but comparing where I am today to where I was when I started yes, the change is dramatic. All my problems are a lot better – less bloating, much less pain, eating better and feeling better in myself.
I was having 6 Panadol Osteo a day but now only require 1 or 2 – I have more of this work to do and I really think I should be able to do without them altogether.
(Update 4 weeks later) – I am no longer needing to take any Panadol Osteo and my symptoms are getting better and better, the more work I do on them.”

Our guarantee
Unlike anything else comparable we are aware of, we offer a money back guarantee on our online program. As a small, private pain clinic, how can we do this? Simple – our social enterprise is based on care, client empowerment and delivering real value. If you’re not happy with our online program we think a fair offer is that, if you have worked sincerely with the materials for somewhere between 6-12 months, and you are not happy with your results we will happily refund your money. Please note the refund offered is on the program component and not the practitioner time.
Recovery from hip and back pain in a 65 year old woman
“I’ve struggled on and off with intermittent back and hip pain for years. Finding the mindbody approach has been fantastic for me and meant I’ve been able to effectively manage the pain without paying for osteo and other therapies I used to do.
I got a lot from Dr Sarno’s books but found I needed some extra help. The Freedom From Chronic Pain program provided lots of great material to make the treatment applicable to my situation. It’s so supportive to be able to talk with a properly trained mindbody practitioner for when I feel stuck.
After finding it difficult to walk for a period, I used the mindbody approach to overcome my hip and back pain. A few weeks later, I noticed I was getting strong tinnitus after a stressful incident. I found when I applied the mindbody principles this symptom no longer worries me anymore, and I’m still on top of my hip and back pain without needing drugs.
It’s amazing stuff, this course… you have to work at the program, you can’t just forget about it, but you can get great results if you do. To overcome my symptoms without drugs is so empowering, I love it.

The Program
Ten weeks to less pain, more function and in many cases a full recovery. Sounds too good to be true? The Freedom From Chronic Pain program is likely different to what you may have been offered by your doctor or a multidisciplinary pain clinic. It’s a next generation biopsychosocial treatment which tackles pain from neurological, emotional and mental angles… to deliver better outcomes in pain treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the program based on?
The program is based on the latest published EAET research (read our science page) plus the combined 25 years of clinical experience of Dr Schubiner (FACP, Professor of Medicine, medical doctor) and Hal Greenham (BSc Psych, somatic psychotherapist and specialist in pain psychotherapy).
What does biopsychosocial mean?
Biopsychosocial treatments address the biological, psychological and social aspects of a condition.
You talk about “mindbody treatment” so are you saying the pain is all in my head?
No, all pain is real, and we’ve been through chronic pain personally ourselves. What we’re saying is that a more accurate understanding of the cause of persistent pain for most people is the neuropsychological process of central sensitisation, or what Dr John Sarno described as TMS. As more is known about the use of medical imaging to understand pain, evidence points towards scans not being well correlated with pain. Medicine’s over reliance on painkiller prescriptions has led to the painkiller and opioid epidemics which are causing enormous harm to people and communities. By treating the brain using the mind, we are usually able to help people improve or recover without drugs or surgery.
I have a structural problem so can this program still help me?
If you have back or other musculoskeletal pain without showing neurological signs of nerve impairment it’s likely this program will be helpful. It’s also effective in many cases where scans have shown degenerative changes or bulging discs. The latest medical evidence is showing a poor relationship between these kinds of changes, and chronic pain. This program is effective at making the neurological, mental and emotional shifts which are usually required to overcome chronic pain.
As per our list of conditions treated this is usually not an appropriate treatment for pain from autoimmune disease, cancer or nerve injury, unless there is a comorbidity of a mindbody symptom with the organic condition.
You are always welcome to ask us if this is likely to be useful for you.
Is this medicare funded treatment?
At present this innovative treatment is not funded by medicare but we are working to get this changed as soon as we can. If you share our passion to get this treatment out to everyone who needs it regardless of their financial circumstances, and can help with relevant contacts in health or medicine, or social enterprise investment, please get in touch and join our advocacy effort!
Why didn't my doctor tell me about this treatment?
Most doctors who completed their training over 5 years ago may not be aware of the latest pain neuroscience and default to older treatment approaches. Freedom From Chronic Pain is an innovative treatment program based on the latest EAET research which some doctors may not know about. Please tell them about it and discuss if it could be suitable for you.
Do I need a referral from my doctor to do the program?
You don’t need a referral but you do need to be seen by a doctor before starting the program to ensure your pain is not from another underlying condition.
How much does it cost?
Please scroll to the bottom of the home page to see our programs and costs.
I’m on a low income, can I get a discount?
We do offer payment plans and in some cases discounts to make the treatment accessible. We are a self funded social enterprise without government support so we do need to ensure our own sustainability, but we strive to make it accessible to people who need it.
What are the terms of the money back guarantee?
We are really confident that if you do the work contained in the program you will see results. We think a fair offer is that, if you have worked sincerely with the materials for somewhere between 6-12 months, and you are not happy with your results we will happily refund your money. Please note the refund offered is on the program component and not the practitioner time.
How many people have asked for their money back so far?
Approximately 2% of participants.
