Carolyn Evans, LISW-CP, is a licensed clinical social worker and psychotherapist in Charleston, South Carolina, specializing in chronic pain. She trained in the founding cohort of Pain Reprocessing Therapy with its creator, Alan Gordon, LCSW, and went on to study with Howard Schubiner, MD in his Freedom From Chronic Pain training. She combines PRT with pain neuroscience education and Internal Family Systems parts work in her work with clients. She came to this work first as a patient, having struggled with chronic bladder pain for more than three years. She saw the specialists, got the scans and was given a diagnosis and told she would just have to live with her pain. After years of searching, she finally found PRT and combined it with IFS, which she already used in her own life and practice. Within 8 weeks, her pain was gone and it hasn’t returned. She works with chronic back pain, pelvic pain, fibromyalgia, migraines and other persistent symptoms with no clear structural cause.
